Kenny Baker became Orchestra Director of McQueen High School in Reno, NV in 2004 and grew the program from an enrollment of 57 members to over 140, plus a guitar program. He is a Nationally Board Certified Teacher, current Nevada ASTA President, and a Yamaha Certified String Educator. He has presented at several state and national conferences on the topics of implementing electric instruments in the orchestra, assessment, and successful relationships with administration. His orchestras have performed at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival and he has served as a guest clinician throughout the United States. He received his Bachelor of Music Education and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he studied viola with Clark Potter and taught in the UNL String Project. He received his Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he and several colleagues continue to organize an annual workshop for Music Education majors.
